Do the good citizens of Cedar Rapids, Iowa take much interest in World affairs?

I live near Cedar Rapids, and I can tell you that not many people take much interest in world affairs. A few do, but you know us self absorbed Americans! We get a little from television, and some of the ethnic groups but other than that most aren't really interested in world affairs. Rattlesnake stew might be popular Texas or Louisiana fare, but in Iowa the people eat more sweet corn (not cobs!) and plenty of pork.
